CRA Hosted Webinar on Cal OES Northern California Catastrophic Flood Response Plan

Cal OES Northern California Catastrophic Flood Response Plan Webinar

On January 15, 2020 the California Resiliency Alliance hosted a webinar on the Cal OES Northern California Catastrophic Flood Response Plan Webinar.

This plan provides a framework outlining how local, state, and federal governments will respond and coordinate in anticipation of and following a catastrophic flood event, with emphasis on impacts to the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The plan covers both flooding from weather events such as atmospheric rivers, as well as the impacts from an immediate or no notice event such as an earthquake in the bay area. The plan includes the following 10 counties: Butte, Colusa, Contra Costa, Glenn, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Solano, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba.

Lynne Olson, a Cal OES Program Manager with the Emergency Functions Planning Unit and the lead for this plan, presented on the flooding risk in the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta, history of the plan, critical considerations included in the plan, the plan’s objectives and how it fits / works with other plans, and an overview of the State’s response.

Here is the recording of the webinar.
